Last night was disappointing. It was disappointing because the Dodgers lost and because I ruined some Chiles Rellenos that I was making, you'll hear more about that on Desert Dining in a few days.
For awhile it looked like the Dodgers were going to pull it out. Manny drove in a run in the 1st. That ball almost got out. Dewitt added a sac fly for the 2nd run.
The Dodgers had a few chances to add some insurance runs but they couldn't come through with 2 outs. Something that they did against the Cubs. In all fairness to the Dodgers they were going up against the Phillies ace. After Hamels the Phillies starting pitching is not that impressive.
The Phillies ballpark is supposed to be a hitters park, and it looked like it yesterday for the Phillies, the ball that Utley hit would not have been out at Dodger Stadium. But being that they are playing in a band box the Dodgers need to take advantage of it.
Other than the error by Furcal, the Dodgers played great defense. Dewitt was all over the place at 2nd base, Blake made some nice plays at third. Even Manny made a nice play cutting off a ball hit by Burrell. The Dodgers relief pitching was impressive. After Lowe gave up those 2 home runs Chan Ho came in and shut down the Phillies. I want to send a shout out to my boy Song from Jacques n Jills. He's from South Korea and a big Chan Ho fan.
Todays game is at 1:30,thats right 1:30 in the afternoon. Which is a problem to those of us that are gainfully employed. Who schedules a playoff game on a Friday in the middle of the day? Either way i'll be watching and drinking a beer.
One last note, Tim McCarver is an idiot. I've never liked the guy. It seems like he doesnt really bring anything as an analyst. There was a sequence where he said the Phillies were going to pitch to Manny inside with a fastball, what do the Phillies do? They set up outside and throw a changeup. He also spent the game bashing Manny. Give it a rest. Manny put up ridiculuos numbers for 7 years, helped them win 2 World Series. Everyone says he dogged it the last month he was in Boston, he hit .347 for Boston before he was traded. Yeah, he dogged it.
I look for the Dodgers to come up big this afternoon. Think Blue.

It kills me that they lost such a close game. They are fighting hard in Game 2 right now though
