An outage disrupted telephone and cellular phone service for thousands of customers today in the Imperial Valley. The service disruption also affected the 911 emergency phone lines.
It was not immediately known how many 911 calls were received, said El Centro Fire Chief Chris Petree, but the 5:20 a.m. outage made the El Centro Police Department use officers working the night shift to help provide more coverage throughout city streets, said police Lt. Paul Longoria.
Some cellular service was sporadically coming back by 8 a.m. Scanner traffic said AT&T officials expect to have phone service back up by two hours. It was uncertain how cellular phone service was affected by the outage.
what is the details of the reason for the phone service outage? Why did this happen and why is it taking so long to fix!??????
