A series of pretrial dates have been set to retry murder defendant Kym Cano after a jury deadlocked today in her trial and causing the judge to declare a mistrial.
Jurors deadlocked 11-1 in finding the 39-year-old Kym Cano of second-degree murder in the shooting death of her husband, Francisco, an off-duty California Highway Patrol officer. Imperial County Superior Court Judge Raymundo Cota declared a mistrial after jurors were polled and told the court that they were "hopelessly" deadlocked.
A pretrial hearing was set April 18 and two more hearings were set next month in retrying Cano, who pleaded not guilty in the first case. Francisco Cano died Dec. 4, 2006 from a single gunshot wound to his face at his Llanos Court home in Calexico.

Kym Cano is a liar. Frank Cano was a nice Guy, he would do anything for his kids, he was a good Dad, But she took that away.Leaving her Children orphans. I hope that she see's the image of his face in her dreams, the image of "Why would you do this to me". I'm sure he did plead for his life, But that cowardly woman did it any way. May she have nightmares for all the days of her life.... She is a sick woman and a sorry excuse of a human being. She had no right to Kill Him.......

You don't shoot someone "ACCIDENTALLY" in the head. Thanks to one (1) idiot juror, the county will again spend money to obtain the correct verdict, "GUILTY". As for GEN, Cano had ample opportunities to leave, if in fact, this was an abusive relationship by both parties. If you want to end a abusive relationship, it's called DIVORCE.

hey justice, can you honestly say that to his children's face? Why don't you talk to Kym's own flesh and blood, her eldest daughter and then maybe you might get the right story. The kids are the one's who really know what went on behind closed doors. Every story ends the same, he always walked away from Kym and her abuse. From what you heard? Wow! And from what you heard makes it true right? And for your information, Frank was orpaned as an infant and made a promise to never leave his children because of the life he had lead as a child. He was willing to put up with the abuse and as we can see his life for them. Before you convict a Father of domestic violence when he is not here to defend himself, get your stories straight. She was lucky to get off this time because of a juror who had his own personal agenda. He wasn't even looking at the facts and making sexual remarks while deliberating. He was asked to comment on the facts and he went off by saying "Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall." What a joke of a juror. Never took notes throughout the trial. Even if the DA had a video of the crime being committed, he would have said not guilty. The pain he has caused these children is enormous because they still don't have closure and now have to relive the nightmare because they have to testify again. So wrong on so many levels.

heidi . . . 1) punctuation 2) caps 3) run-on sentences 4) do you actually read what you write? 5) mistrial is not innocent.
interesting that a person who commits murder is able to lead others to god. what is this world coming to? if the tables were turned and it was a man shooting his wife in the face because she was 'abusive', do you think any of these people would be defending him? the law is the law, and wrong is wrong. this woman shot and killed her husband, she needs to rot in jail.
