CALEXICO --- A Calexico police officer faces a felony domestic violence charge after he was arrested over the weekend for allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face and stomach outside a bar where he was confronted by his wife who came looking for him, a Calexico Police lieutenant said Monday.
Juan Garcia, 41, posted bail following his arrest Saturday night at the Calexico Police Station, said Lt. Gonzalo Gerardo. Garcia's wife, Gabriela Guadalupe Leyva Garcia, 34, was also arrested for allegedly hitting her husband's girlfriend, Gerardo said. Leyva Garcia has also posted bail.
The girlfriend, 29, who Gerardo declined to identify, was treated and released at El Centro Regional Medical Center for injuries to her lower jaw and stomach.
Juan Garcia, a five-year veteran of the Calexico Police Department, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of his case, Gerardo said.

We need officers to respect the law not just use it towards their advantage. I only hope my kids don't grow up with these losers. Remember officer Bugarin how was he going to chase a kid or any thief what was he going to steam roll the suspect. We got officer that aren't probably can't even count to 10. Some officers are here because well it all comes back to they know the right people. Like our mayors nobody knows him till the christmas parade except the asian on second street and the business guys who are probably related to him.

that true calexico cops are full of it the never stop at stop signs and when you call a report it you get the they are on a case or some bull like that excuse. i have seen them park on the red zone at all stores and when i report them they say it was on a call and i personaly saw them shopping. How do they want us to follow the law if the can do it themselves. i think calexico pd is a joke.

It is well known by the calexico pd as well as for many calexico residents and people that know personally Juan Garcia that he got thrown out of the police academy for innappropriate behavior involving women too. He paid his way back to the academy and then got hired by the clx pd. He does nt deserve to wear the police badge nor the respect of the community. he also box and was trained...to brake a woman s jaw? he is a disgrace...he should be treated like the criminal he is..not an decent, professional clx pd officer.

It wouldn't surprise me if all this were true, the CPD has always been crooked, and then they get offended when you tell them. I hope all of this comes out soon. The people of Calexico need better leadership, and these officers are not it. They are just a disgrace to the city and to their families.
