Imperial County will be heading to federal court after the Board of Supervisors voted to intervene in a case regarding 2008's Proposition 8.
The County will be joining the Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Los Angeles County and a few other government agencies in defense of the Proposition 8 vote November 2008, said County Counsel Michael Rood. The case has already been through the California Supreme Court and dealt with the constitutionality of a ban on gay marriage.
The case is set to go to federal court Jan. 11, 2010, said Chairman of the Board Wally Leimgruber. The county will file a motion today in federal court to join the case.
"We wanted to come along side the voters," he said.
Imperial County had approved the proposition in 2008 with 69 percent of the vote, he said.
The board approved intervening with a 3-2 vote, he said. Leimgruber and supervisors Jack Terrazas and Louis Fuentes voted to support the intervention.
Supervisors Gary Wyatt and Mike Kelley voted against it.

God says, "Hate the sin, love the sinner". God loves all of us no matter what we are. God does not hate anyone of us, it is impossible for him to hate, because he is "LOVE". We are not to judge anyone for any reason, God is the judge over all, and his ways are not our ways. This is the reason why people hate others that are different from them, we are human and use our human minds to think and reason with. This is why our ways can never be righteous. If you judge anyone for any reason remember...... you also will come under judgement one day, God's judgement. If you want to disagree with what others might be or with what others do or say, that is fine. Just remember to "love one another" as Jesus told us to. There is too much hate in the world as it is, why hurt more people because of human reasoning and judgement? You can still disagree with the way others are living their lives, but don't let your disagreement come out as hate.
And for those who say that times have changed, and what God says no longer applies in our modern world just let me say this...... The world may change, but God's word never does. Just because we are living in different times does not mean we disregard God's word, and make our own rules because we like them better, or go along with what the crowd says or does because everyone else is.
Some religions and their leaders are the very people hating others, keeping them out of their churchs, holding up signs saying God hates you because of what or who you are. These are the people who should know better, after all, are they not the one's preaching about loving EVERYONE! These people are the one's who need to stop following church and religions rules, and actually read God's word so they can preach and know the truth. When you know God's truth, then is when your heart and mind will change.

Even with the ridiculous amount of hate that is inevitable in such a small county like Imperial County, I am so grateful to hear that not everyone feels the same way. Thank you, Straight Against Hate, drussel, and Love & Equality for speaking up with your hearts in a county that is constantly using a scapegoat to masquerade its overt homophobia.

Actually, God did create Pancho and Jason as well as Adam and Eve and Jesus LOVES all his children; black or white, catholic or jewish, straight or gay. God bless everyone this Christmas season!

NG-If your 'god' didn't create Pancho and Jason, then who did?
In response to the question by ivtransplant-"How many times does this need to be voted on?" the response is simple; Until the voting public gets it right, and discontinues, once and for all, this act of castigation, discrimination and violating the civil rights of the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community. Gay marriage is as much of a "farce" as is straight marriage.
ivtransplant:"I don't have straight parades or straight rallies". In fact, you do. Every day. Take a look around. Everything you see, smell, think, and do is predicated, and directed at, you, the straight man/woman.

It's embarrassing and disheartening to read the amount of hate in these comments. Those of you who insist of bringing God into this issue are ridiculous, because there is a separation of church and state. Also, if you truly "knew" the bible, you should remember Jesus was the son of God and told us to love one another as God has loved you. When you don't allow a class, a race, a group of individuals a right that is given to everyone else, that is indeed discrimination to the fullest extent. It's like saying everyone with brown hair can't own a house or everyone with white skin can't be allowed to drive a vehicle. It's 2008, going into 2009, but yet some people still want separate bathrooms, drinking fountains and restaurants for those that they don't feel are "normal," when in fact nobody is "normal." For those of you that are quick to disseminate hate, look within yourselves and ask "would I feel the same way if my brother, sister, son, or daughter were denied marriage?" And those of you who are Bible preachers, you should all know the question you should ask yourselves, "what would Jesus do?" Please, stop the hate.
