Calexico city council votes against giving Carrillo a pay raise

CALEXICO --- City council members voted 3-2 today against approving a pay hike of $145,000 to City Manager Victor Carrillo.

In spite of Mayor David Ouzan's assertions that Carrillo is underpaid, and while Council member John M. Moreno said Carrillo is deserving of a pay increase, council members Luis J. Castro, Daniel F. Romero and Guillermo Hermosillo all disagreed and voted against the motion.

Castro and Hermosillo said that while to look favorably on Carrillo's job performance, they wanted the city to take several more months before making a decision. The three city leaders who turned the pay raise down wanted to see what the economic health of Calexico looks like before going ahead and giving Carrillo a raise.

Mr.Carrillo is under-payed?!?!?!?! What a shame, perhaps he should do me/us a favor & go back to what he knows. Because in case some of the City Council members hadn't heard we are in a recession!!! & yes Sir's it is bad. The under-payed now & always have & continue to be our peace keeping officers!!! I THINK ITS I BULL THAT HE WOULD GET A PAY INCREASE CALEXICO POLITICS I CRAP EVERYONE IN THERE IS FAMILY AND THEY SPEND OUR MONEY ON USELESS THINGS LIKE FIXIN THE CORNERS ON THRID STREET. HAS ANYONE SEEN A LIVE PLANT ON SECOND STREET NO. ITS LIKE MEXICALI THEY SAY THE GOT 100 GRAND TO DO SOMETHING THEY SPEND 10 AND POCKET THE REST. ITS ALL BULL TELL ME WHO KNOWS WHO THE MAYOR IS I DONT WHY BECAUSE I DONT OWN A BUSSINESS IF DID I WOULD ITS A SHAME TO LIVE IN CALEXICO. THESE PEOPLE WANT TO GET PAID LIKE THEY WERE RUNNING SAN DIEGO OR ORANGE COUNTY.
