Gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman made a stop this morning at the El Centro Chamber of Commerce to talk to a half-empty room about what her plans are if elected California governor.
The group present included business owners and agricultural leaders, and the forum was geared toward those topics.
Whitman, on the June 8 Republican primary ballot, spoke about three things she wanted to focus on if elected: creating jobs, cutting government spending and improving schools, she said.
Her reasoning for coming to El Centro before heading off to Orange County later today was because of the unemployment in the county, she said. So much of the challenge facing the state can be seen in the county.
"Imperial County is bearing the brunt of it," she said.
