Candidate Mary Salas has requested a recount for the June 8 primary election on the last day to make the request.
Salas, who lost by 22 votes after final counts came in from Riverside County, made the request Monday afternoon, said Rebecca Spencer with the Riverside County Registrar of Voters office. However, it only affects Riverside County.
Salas was down when final certified results came in from all three counties that the senate district covers: parts of Riverside and San Diego counties and all of Imperial County.
To Imperial County Registrar of Voters Dolores Provencio's understanding, both Riverside and San Diego counties received recount requests, but not Imperial County as of 5 p.m. today, she said. Depending on what the requester wants, the ballots can be examined or counted again, though without a request for Imperial County, it will not have to recount the vote.
The San Diego County Registrar of Voters Office was unable to be reached for comment.
